One of these days I am going to catch one of the BIG planes coming in. They fly in so low and large that you think they are for sure going to land on the building next door. The Quito airport has a runway of 3,120 meters (this is quite short!) in length by 46 meters width.

Yes indeed, I remember that short runway as we landed in Quito---not much room to taxi---the closest I ever came to thinking we were making a crash-landing. UFFDA !! MOM
I have to second your Mom's comment. I do remember my landing in Quito too. Felt like such an adventure, the perfect start for a backpacking vacation!
