Here is an archive photo and not a great one at that, but it shows the city of Quito from inside a cable car of the Teleférico ride up Ruccu Pichincha mountain which I have mentioned before. The city is laid out like a banana in the valley of the Andes so very long from North to South and narrow from East to West. Click this photo to see the detail of the city a little more clearly (through the windows of our car!)

I tried to locate the National Basilica in this panoramic photo...but no luck!

You are pretty brave there Daughter Wellspring. Climbing up to the top of the Bascilica, taking a picture, and now this cable car, probably hanging out the window to get the great shot of Quito. I probably wouldn't ride up there myself. I guess I like good 'ol terra firma.

I spent the first ten years of my life in Quito and was so enchanted to find this blog - I went through all of your archives in one go. I've been thirsty for such a visit - Thank you so much for giving me such a lovely long drink.

Quito has never looked so pretty for me as in your blog! Im Miguel, living in barcelona, about to go back to Ecuador after 2 years living in Spain.
Just wanted you to know i´ll be telling Marjorie, my girlfriend, to check this site instead of buying a guide for Quito. She´s from Canada and will be visiting me there in December. Ok, great blog and great pics again! Ill definitely return!
