Theme Day: What really annoys you in your city?

Today I am participating in my first theme day and for me it was easy to come up with something annoying. Quito is by FAR the worst laid out city I have ever driven in, and we are convinced that whoever designed the layout of the streets never actually had to drive on them to get anywhere. :) It is virtually impossible to make a quick right or quick left if you miss your turn and it would take a force greater than man to get from point A to point B without having to make some crazy loopty loo through the city blocks. If you make a U-turn at an intersection with the above sign (and they seem to be everywhere) you WILL be thrown in jail for 30 days if the police happens to be there. Outside of demolishing the layout and beginning again, I do not see a fix for this problem and so will grin and bear it!

Theme day occurs on the first day of every month, and there are more than 50 DP bloggers participating in todays "annoying" theme day. Take a quick tour around the world and check them out. Difficult driving situations are certainly annoying. Makes me think of Charleston, where there are a TON of one-way streets. I'm glad to know that making a Uee is a big no-no in Quito -- for when I visit! :)

I don't mean to be picky (well okay, yes I do)....but isn't that sign actually instructing drivers not to commit an upside-down J-turn?
I'd get them on the technicality if charged with a violation!

C & D - arguing with the police is typically not advised here but I'll keep your advice in mind if I try to bust an illegal move. ;)

keropok man - many people tell me that I am a very patient woman and so I do have that going for me when it comes to driving here!

that's a weird traffic sign... and yes traffic... that's really annoying but sooo necessary!! (i don't know if that word is right...)

What really annoys me now is the wrod verification.. what's wrong with that???)

The sort of layout you describe was one of the thing which we enjoyed about Brussels Belgium when we lived there. Where we grew up in the US all the streets from north and south or east and west in a grid. How boring.

Goodness, jail time for a U turn? You are a far better person than I to grin and bear the driving conditions. Great photo for your theme today!

TERRIBLE!
What made me laugh is that I misread your last sentence and instead of "I will grin and bear it" I read "I will gin and beer it", thinking that the only solution was in alcohol, (drinking to forget, not drink driving) LOL
