You can find out more about the monument on the hill by going to http://tour.in-quito.com/quito-tourist-attractions-panecillo.htm and to http://www.in-quito.com/pictures/panecillo.htm It is called Virgen del Panecillo and is a well known landmark here in Quito. I have not yet been close enough to get a picture of it for myself.
