And to your left, and on another street...this is most certainly the door to someones home. Notice the glass shards for protection on top of the wall.

I was just talking with someone yesterday about walls with glass shards. And the spikes are to keep birds from perching, yes?
The glass shards are actually to keep thieves away and are all over Quito, no matter what neighborhood you live in. The ones shown here are actually quite small, and so not sure how effective they are.
